Open Gym Procedures for Gym Staff
Introduction:
In this lesson, we will discuss the procedures and responsibilities of gym staff during Open Gym. As a staff member, it is essential to be knowledgeable about the various areas in the gym, the rules that must be followed, and how to engage with the students and parents effectively.
Staff Positions:
a. Front Office - Check people in and ensure they are on the list, have paid, or have a makeup.
b. Tots Area - Supervise tots, and act as a floater if there are no tots present.
c. Yellow Tramp Area - Monitor the trampoline and ensure that the rules are being followed.
d. Pit Area - Supervise the pit and the end of the trampoline.
e. Bar Area and Big Tumble Track - Oversee these areas and enforce the rules.
Age Restrictions:
a. Bees, Bunnies, Bears, and Tigers (children under five years old) must stay in the Tots Area and are not allowed on the gym floor.
Rules for Students:
a. No jumping on the trampoline together (one at a time).
b. No swinging on the rope.
c. Tumble tracks should be used in one direction only.
d. Only team members on team bars and team beams.
e. Feet-first or knowledgeable Flips only into the foam pit.
Rules for Staff:
a. No phones on the gym floor.
b. Always be standing and engaged with the students.
c. Assist with setting up stations, spotting, and enforcing rules.
d. Sign up for Open Gym on the bulletin board and find a replacement if you cannot attend.
